“BS3 Community Development was founded in 1991 to improve the lives of people living in BS3 and the surrounding area. We run two community venues; the Southville Centre and the Chessel Centre.
BS3 Community Development is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee and as a social business we reinvest surplus generated from our profitable services into educational, arts, environmental, health and wellbeing projects that we either run directly or support partners to deliver.
At BS3 Community Development we are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity and access, celebrating diversity, and promoting inclusion and belonging. These concepts are not just crucial in relation to our service users but are important for our employees and the wider community too.”

“Bristol Law Centre is a charity providing free legal advice in specialist areas of social welfare law, and also represents clients in court. We help over 1,500 people a year access the justice system thanks to our funders, sponsors and committed staff and volunteers.
We also help more than 5,000 enquirers, offer legal education and training, and work on our own and with partners to push for changes to public policy that promote equality and justice.”

“BSWN’s over-arching strategic intent is to build dynamic, independent, and strong Black and Minoritised communities, businesses, and organisations that are empowered to flourish while challenging systemic barriers and forging a true path for themselves. We believe that only through this will we significantly address racial inequality. All our portfolio feeds into this aim.
Over the years, BSWN has developed a strong reputation for evidence-driven work based on our own robust and academically sound research. We have started to fill the significant gaps in knowledge that are created by the lack of focus on the specific understandings, experiences, needs, wants, feelings, and aspirations of the Black and Minoritised communities in Bristol and the region.
Our work falls into three broad areas – Cross-sector Enterprise and Innovation; Cultural Inclusion; Research and Knowledge – with Scrutiny and Accountability and Representation and Power as an over-arching theme that cuts through all our work.”

BEG began in 2010, as Bedminster Energy Group. It was set up by a group of volunteers involved in environmental schemes, from rescuing and caring for unused patches of land to supporting the annual Best of Bedminster show. BEG started by promoting things that local people can do in their homes to reduce their bills and keep the heat in during the winter.
Since 2010, although the group of volunteers has changed, and the name changed to BS3 Energy Group , our mission has stayed more or less the same! We’re still a group of passionate volunteers looking to help BS3 residents reduce energy bills and act on climate change!
We’re part of Bristol Energy Network, an umbrella-organisation bringing together community energy groups from around Bristol to pool resources and share ideas.
