#RaceForPower

Martin Luther King Jr Day took place on January 16th of this calendar year. To this day, an alarming number of social gaps and divides exist that remain unbridged in the attempt to level the playing field in the Bristol region.

A new think tank, dubbed Curiosity UnLtd, pioneered their operation focused on highlighting issues of black and brown social rights, liberties, access to opportunities, and representation. Their event hosted on Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday involved the unveiling of a comprehensive card containing messages written by local champions of equality and justice reflecting King Jr’s dream and the progress still required. This was followed by a radio show on Ujima 98fm discussing the issues at length.

Curiosity UnLtd’s work is ongoing – they plan to engage as many people of the region in encouraging an open discussion to promote the issues surrounding race relations in Bristol and beyond. Later in the year, they will present their findings and research to coincide with the date of King Jr’s maiden speech 60 years ago.
